We landed on time and for through passport control at 7:22. Our luggage had been checked through priority and it was ready and waiting for us. From there we caught a bus to Europcar, collected the hire car and we were on the road by 8:10. We got to Anne an hour and ten minutes later and had a lovely breakfast together with Evie. After a hot shower we drove to to park and ride and caught the bus into Oxford. Our walk started at St. Edmunds College and from there we walked under the Bridge of Sighs. Then around the Sheldonian Theatre which was designed by Sir Christopher Wren in 1669. We stopped in at the White Horse where Anne had a Guinness, Dave had a Trimly and I had an Aspall. The pub was built in 1551. We then walked to Trinity College – what an amazing place to study! I found a few kitchen goodies at Boswell & Co before we walked to the Christchurch War Memorial Garden. From there we went for lunch at The Head of the River. It was a stunning day so we say outside on the banks of the Thames. Dave chose Fullers London Pride, I had Cornish Orchards and Anne had a Red Fox. We shared a charcuterie platter and a Greek Mezze platter which was enough for the three of us. At the Golden Cross shopping centre we found mixed fish offcuts at the fishmonger which were excellent and very well priced. We bought tomatoes, a leek and mixed exotic mushrooms at the green grocer for £5.20 which I thought was very cheap. To make sure my body knows it’s on holiday the next stop was for ice cream. I had fiori di sambuco (elderflower) and Anne had bueno branch, white chocolate with hazelnut. After that we popped into M&S for pasta and cheese and then headed back to Anne. We had a lovely relaxing evening and a wonderful family dinner that Dave cooked. We were in bed really late, having walked 5.1km for the day.
